The Vision of Wildlife
If you are reading this you are probably either an aspiring Nature Photographer, well on your way to mastery of the craft or somewhere in between. But how much time do you spend on wildlife photography? For many of us it can be a challenge to find the right kind of location, subject, or situation to find a vision of what you want to say or how you want to express the encounters with the amazing wildlife that co-occupies this world with us.
For this series, I didn't want to give you hot spots, focus on the same kind of wildlife images you have seen a thousand times before, or bore you with technical settings. I wanted to bring you four photographers with completely different backgrounds, skills, and ways of seeing the world. Individually they represent amazing wildlife experiences, together they bring forth an extremely strong Vision of Wildlife. Join us to learn, see, and understand ways to see scenes in completely different ways.
Welsh Photographer and Mountain Guide Andy Teasdale will amaze you with his images and simple process through "Birding in my Backyard." Next, we will see returning a 3rd time to NPC Photomaster Ian Plant and everything that he knows about "Making Artistic Wildlife Photographs." I guarantee some of his signature images will burn into your mind forever. Next, Julie Steelman will bring us "Mastering Wildlife Action Photography: Predict, Anticipate, Capture" and her personal journey through grief and the underlying connection to wildlife. Closing out the series is acclaimed speaker David DuChemin will present "A Wilder Voice, Wildlife Photographs That Are More Than Just Good."
David and Ian will review JPG images after their talks, while Andy and Julie will demonstrate post-processing on user-submitted RAW files. Get your files ready!

An opportunity arose to really appreciate the birdlife in my garden when Covid came and we went into lockdown in 2020. I had a hide, unused, and there were also plenty of birds around. I'd made nest boxes for them and had a feeder table to watch them, but I hadn't really taken time out of my day to soak it up properly. Sad as it was for so many, I found a happy place in my garden. Just me, my camera and a camoflauged tent. My presentation takes us through my first proper journey of learning to see. From bare branches to blossom, from courtship to fledglings. Over 100 days I saw a whole world of birdlife that previously had been a fleeting glimpse. I learnt to watch, to see, to capture like never before. I loved every minute of it and it is my pleasure to share the journey and the highlights with you.
Bio:
I am a Mountain Guide and a Photographer by profession. I am also a climber and nature lover by passion. I have been lucky to be able to blend my childhood hobbies into a way of making a living that has always had fun, adventure and fulfillment at heart. I vary my work load between climbing activities and photography trips and my hobbies fill the gaps to suit the weather, however these days, I am most likely to be seen on the local sea cliffs if it's dry and the sea is not too rough!! Family time is also very special, where, more often than not, climbing and photography come along as well!

It is very easy to make a photograph of a bear, or a lion. It is much harder to make a photograph about something more: a story, a feeling, something that with a perspective that is uniquely your own.
